Right to Vote

Yesterday the UK went to the polls. The results are pretty much what I expected. I wonder if that is why some people don't vote?
As I walked to the polling station I was overcome with emotion, I struggled to fight back tears. My Nan had been a suffragette, and throughout her life she remained a very political person. At the age of 88 she was thrown out of a council meeting for heckling (this story always makes me smile all the way to my heart). So the walk to the polling booth stired up what a fight it had been for women to get the vote. It reminded me of how much Nan had to fight in other parts of her life too. It reminded me too of how much i still grieve for Nan, but also what she has taught me. As I crossed the box, and posted my ballot I realised that she had left me a legacy that Nan, and many other brave women gave me, the right to vote.
